01Reservations & calendar

The chart the front desk lives in.

One grid of rooms and nights. Everything a receptionist does in a shift starts here — taking a booking, moving a guest, checking someone in, blocking a room that flooded.

540
nights of horizon, maintained automatically
0
overbookings possible from inside the system
1
confirmation code, for the life of the booking

ReplacesA wall planner, a shared spreadsheet, and the phone call to check whether room 12 is free.

What it does

Draw a booking on the grid

Drag across the nights you want on the room you want. The form opens with the dates and the room already filled in, and the price for those exact nights already calculated.

Move a guest without losing them

Drag a stay to another room or another set of dates. The confirmation code survives the move, so the guest keeps quoting the same number and your records keep matching theirs.

Change dates safely

When a stay shifts, the old nights and the new nights are locked together while the change is written. Two staff members changing two bookings at the same second cannot produce an overbooking.

Take a room out of sale

Mark a room out of order and the capacity for those nights drops by one. Mark it out of service and capacity holds but nobody can be assigned to it. The difference is money, so it is a deliberate choice.

Check in, check out, no surprises

The system refuses a check-in before the arrival date and tells you why rather than failing quietly. Every refusal names the rule it is enforcing.

A history you can read

Every reservation carries its own timeline: who created it, who moved it, who cancelled it and when. Nothing is edited away.

Why the grid, and not a list

A list of bookings answers “who is coming”. It cannot answer “can I sell the family room for the bank holiday weekend”, which is the question the desk actually asks. The grid answers both, and it answers the second one at a glance, which is the only speed that matters when someone is on the phone.

  • Rooms as rows, nights as columns, up to a year and a half ahead
  • Weekend columns marked, because that is where the pricing decisions are
  • Nights taken out of sale are hatched and cannot be dropped on
  • Hover any stay for guest, status and balance without leaving the chart
